JOHOR BARU: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar has asked for several international artistes to be dropped from the three-day open air concerts to be held in conjunction with his coronation ceremony.
They are Artists Taboo, who is a member of America’s hip hop group Black Eyed Peas, South Korean’s Sistar and pop duo Fuying and Sam from Taiwan.
Johor religious council executive committee chairman Abdul Mutalib Abdul Rahman told the New Straits Times that Sultan Ibrahim’s decision takes into consideration the public’s sensitivities with regards to the coronation ceremony.
Abdul Mutalib was called to Istana Bukit Serene today.
These artistes were to perform at a royal concert co-organised by the Johor Tourism Department and the Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd.
However, Indonesian singer Datuk Rossa was spared from the axe and is slated to perform at the royal concert on March 26 alongside other local talents such as Sheila Majid, Jacklyn Victor, Penny Tai and Shila Amzah.
